Colchester City Council - Local Plan Review.
What is the Colchester Local Plan Review?
The Local Plan is a plan for the development of the local area, drawn up by the Local Planning Authority (Colchester City Council). It guides decisions on whether planning applications can be granted. The Council adopted the current Colchester Local Plan Section 1 in February 2021 and Section 2 in July 2022. This guides growth and development across Colchester to 2033. To ensure plans remain effective, they require reviewing and updating at least every five years.
What is a vision?
The Local Plan must set out a vision for the future development of Colchester, addressing needs and opportunities in relation to housing, the economy, community facilities and infrastructure – as well as a basis for conserving and enhancing the natural and historic environment, mitigating and adapting to climate change, and achieving well designed places.

If you are not able to access the consultation site, paper copies of the questionnaire can be collected from the Town Hall and all Colchester libraries. These can be handed to the librarian, alternatively you can email your responses to local.plan@colchester.gov.uk or post it to Planning Policy, Rowan House, 33 Sheepen Road, Colchester, CO3 3WG.
The closing date for submissions is Thursday 21st March 2024.
